Why this matters now
Packaging is no longer a finishing step for EU-bound cleaning products. The Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation has shifted buyer attention toward recyclability, unnecessary packaging, labelling and packaging waste reduction.
For importers, this means the first RFQ should include more than net content and target price. Bottle material, trigger or cap format, carton structure, label area and recycling instructions all influence whether a product can move smoothly from sample review to retail shelf.
What to include in the RFQ
A practical brief should state the destination country, packaging format, preferred material, label language, barcode requirements and carton marks. If the product will sit in a supermarket or discount chain, buyers should also share shelf dimensions and any retailer packaging rules.
Suppliers can then quote against a realistic packaging route instead of revising artwork and cartons after the commercial terms are already agreed.
